From ideas or technical drawings to future-proof 3D CAD

Turn your ideas or scanned drawings into editable FreeCAD projects, STEP models and STL meshes, while keeping an engineer in control.

Two ways to start

📐

Have a drawing?

Upload it for AI-assisted recognition. Review and correct the part description, then choose the level of detail before generation.

💡

Have an idea?

Describe a part in text for your first design ideas. Get a first parametric CAD direction quickly, then continue with a CAD engineer.

🧭

Keep engineering judgment

Ideas to CAD supports, not replaces, engineers. It removes repeat modeling work so you can focus on design decisions and checks.

Why FreeCAD is a strong long-term foundation

FreeCAD is open source, and its document format is designed to remain readable forever. Your work is not locked into one vendor and can be imported into other CAD systems. Its open API can be scripted, so future AI tools can modify parts, automate FEM workflows, and run collision checks in assemblies. Repeatable automation can be planned instead of rebuilding every base part by hand. With Elmer multi-physics FEM integration, simulation results can guide geometry changes and support practical design loops.

🧩

Parametric where it matters

The review step lets you decide how parametric the output should be. For example, you can skip detailed thread modeling when a simple representation is more useful.

🛠️

Useful handoff formats

Depending on the workflow, you can use an editable FreeCAD project or exchange geometry through STEP and STL outputs.

Privacy by design, current and planned: Ideas to CAD runs AI models via mammouth.ai. Servers are in the EU and the service is designed to follow GDPR. For the planned free and anonymous tier, features will be limited and logs and scripts will be deleted after the result file is downloaded. Planned paid accounts will offer job history: view past jobs, review and edit the instructions given to the AI models, and run part creation again. Deleting an account will delete all user information. These account and history features are planned, not current promises. Data storage will depend on the account type. A daily limit for free users, with paid priority, may also be introduced.

Ideas to CAD speeds up the repeat work of modeling base parts from old drawings or new designs, without taking the engineer out of the loop.
